Building up allows you to add considerable square footage without paying extra money. A ranch house plan is always more expensive, since it requires nearly double the foundation and materials than the two-story house plan requires. Therefore for families needing extra square footage, consider the two-story home.

Another consideration is the orientation of your lot – you need to situate your home to take advantage of the shade trees, the view, reflected sunlight and possibly wooded areas for privacy.  Also, if you enjoyed particular features of past homes, tell BCGI about them and we can re-incorporate them into your current home.

If you entertain often, there’s always the option of separating the bedrooms from the rest of the living areas to ensure privacy.
